The Cottage, Beesby

The project took on a dilapidated mud and stud cottage, and renovated it back into a habitable and attractive space.  Local materials - green oak, soil and straw – were used, as the cottage was hand crafted back to its original state.  Thatch replaced the corrugated sheet steel roof, and the chimney top was rebuilt.

The challenge of designing the small kitchen extension to comply with current planning and building regulations resulted in the cottage becoming the first modern mud and stud building to achieve this.
